AI for your business
Assistants, automations and AI features grounded in your own data — not generic guesses. We start small, prove the value, then grow it.
Lamalo is a small studio of engineers and designers led by Jonathan Lam. We build AI-powered web and mobile products, help businesses put AI and IT to work, and teach people to make things — backed by nearly two decades of engineering in defence, telecom and nuclear science.
Tools we use most
Assistants, automations and AI features grounded in your own data — not generic guesses. We start small, prove the value, then grow it.
Full-stack web apps, websites and iOS/Android apps — and the hardware they talk to. MVPs usually go live in 3–4 weeks.
Practical, no-jargon help when your setup is fighting you. Audits, support, managed IT, backups and security — sorted, properly.
Hands-on sessions for schools, youth groups, teams and curious adults. Build something real in a few hours — no slides, just making.
Plain-language help from engineers who have kept defence, telecom and production systems running. We tell you what is worth doing, do it properly, and leave you with something you understand.
~40% lower inference cost from multi-model routing with provider fallbacks, in production.
Book an AI discovery session1,500+ telecom systems analysed, fixed and upgraded — and business infrastructure run with reliability first.

Lamalo is a small team of engineers and designers led by Jonathan Lam — nearly two decades of engineering, from defence radio and nuclear instrumentation to AI products in production.
Military-grade digital RF filters in C++ at Canada’s Communications Research Centre, then hardware, software and real-time data for 50+ radiation detectors at Health Canada during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics — and co-authored, peer-reviewed research. The rule we still work by: trust only what can be verified. Case study →
Compton-imager simulation for Defence R&D Canada, sub-150 ms ESP32 camera firmware for law-enforcement teams, and support and upgrades across 1,500+ commercial telecom systems — plus web, email and data infrastructure for business clients. Firmware → IT & telecom →
Real-time noise cancellation on FPGA for a defence client, predictive maintenance for a manufacturer, and an AI-readiness review for an air-defence organisation. FPGA → Predictive maintenance →
Jonathan leads a small team of engineers and designers. We have shipped 8+ web, mobile and AI products — including an Android point-of-sale app used by 1,000+ people and a language-learning app serving 500+ learners. MVPs usually go live in 3–4 weeks, and multi-model routing has cut AI inference costs by about 40%. See what’s live →
Workshops are loud, occasionally messy, and the best way we know to teach. Each session starts with a working example and ends with something you actually made.
You don't need a finished product spec, a deck, or a team. You need a first honest conversation and a clear next step. That's where this starts.
A real conversation — not a sales call. We figure out what you're actually trying to make and why it matters to you.
A short, plain-English plan: what's possible, what's tricky, what to build first, and what to defer.
Hands on the hardware and the code. Small, working pieces, faster than you'd expect — sometimes in a single week.
Test it with real people. Refine. Decide if it's a product, a project, or a great story to tell. All are valid.
The hardest part isn't the technology. It's the courage to start before everything is figured out. We start there, with you.
Coming soon. We are building Lamalo into a place for builders, learners, teachers, and people who like the smell of solder. There are no dates yet — leave your email and we will tell you when the first evening is on.
What we are planning:
Lamalo comes from the Hebrew phrase for "why not." It's a two-word permission slip: to start, to try, to ask the obvious question, to make the thing before you're certain it'll work.
The studio is built around four values that aren't decoration — they're the operating system.
Take the question seriously. Ask the next one.
Start before it's perfect. Especially then.
Make it well. Verify it. The details are the work.
Build with people. For people. Toward better.
An idea, an AI question, a workshop, a stuck project, or a server that won't behave. Send a few lines — a real person on our team reads every message.
