Workshop Kit v2
A modular kit shipped to schools with a four-session arc: light, input, logic, then a tiny celebration build. Designed so one damaged part doesn’t retire the whole box.
Challenge
Most classroom kits are either too toy-like or too fragile. The brief was honest difficulty: real components, real failure modes, and replacement parts a teacher could swap without a soldering marathon.
Approach
Modules snap to a common bus; lesson PDFs match the hardware revision number. Session four deliberately combines earlier modules instead of introducing a new chip — synthesis beats novelty when time is short.
- Teacher reset: a labeled “spares” tray keyed to the online BOM.
- Student-facing checks — “LED pattern means this” — burned into the handout.
- No account wall for the curriculum; it lives beside the kit in a plain folder.
Outcome
Several cohorts finished with working projects and messy desks — the right kind of mess. v2 is iteration, not reinvention: clearer silk, tougher connectors, and fewer words on the page that weren’t tested in a real classroom.
