Studio Console

A small internal app that became the spine of day-to-day ops: who’s booked, what’s in stock, what’s broken, and what ships next — without opening another spreadsheet.

2023 Product · Full-stack

Challenge

Tooling creep had split truth across shared drives, three spreadsheets, and a group chat nobody wanted to scroll. The job wasn’t “more software” — it was fewer handoffs and a single read on studio health.

Approach

Opinionated data model, boring stack, fast UI. The console centers on four views: schedule, inventory, maintenance, and a lightweight activity log. Auth kept to who actually works the floor — no role explosion.

  • Same-day adoption: people could enter data on phones between tasks.
  • Exports on purpose — for the accountant and for the one-off report, without duplicating UI.
  • Errors surfaced in plain language, not stack traces.

Outcome

The studio stopped asking which file was current. That sounds small; it bought back whole afternoons. The console is maintained like furniture — patched when something grates, not rebuilt for fashion.
